ABOUT US
The Bayou Civics Foundation is a Louisiana-based nonprofit empowering young people to lead in public life.
Through high school and college programming, civic events, and media, we connect students with the tools, voices, and confidence they need to vote, lead, and make change — right here at home.
Our goal is simple: build a Louisiana where the next generation stays, speaks up, and shapes the future.
WHY IT MATTERS
Louisiana ranks near the bottom in voter turnout, civic literacy, and youth engagement.
Young people are tuning out — and moving out.
We believe that if you want to change a state, you start with the next generation.
That means showing up in classrooms, on campuses, and in communities to make public life real, relevant, and worth caring about.

WHAT WE DO
First Vote Louisiana
We visit high schools to help seniors register, understand how voting works, and why it matters. We turn first-time voters into lifelong participants in Louisiana’s civic life.
Yearly Summits
Our annual gathering brings students together for a day of speakers, workshops, and civic leadership training — all focused on Louisiana’s future.
Student Chapters
Student-led chapters at Louisiana universities that host events, lead voter outreach, and grow real political leadership from the ground up.
