Provisions for the gubernatorial inauguration began today on the front steps of the Louisiana

State Capitol building. Jeff Landry’s security team along with the justice department are working

overtime to ensure a safe ceremony for the governor-elect and all those in attendance of this

historic landmark occasion. Reports are indicating that the front entrance of the capitol will be

closed off from both the general public and capitol staff until after the ceremony in January.

When Jeff Landry steps onto the podium and takes his oath of office, the capitol garden will

also be making its debut. The area surrounding the bronze statue of Huey P. Long, a marker of

the former governor’s resting place, has been fenced off from the public for the last several

months. Come January, however, the people of Louisiana will be treated to new and rejuvenated

grounds that resemble the same outlay as the original gardens of 1932 when the Capitol first

opened its doors.

It seems as if Jeff Landry is being welcomed by “Huey’s Castle,” with freshly renovated

House and Senate chambers, committee rooms, and updated gardens. Maybe this is a sign of

good things to come? We like to keep things optimistic around here at TTT.
